This scholarship is to honor the memory of Alvin Lance Vanzandt and for students who have a strong belief in themselves, a definitive grasp on what their future will be and the desire to be an integral part in future leadership. Candidates should be confident in what they can accomplish in furthering their education and not quit until goals are achieved.
This scholarship is open to high school students in the Jefferson County area that have a 2.5 or better GPA (transcript required) and is interested in pursuing a career in education. Candidates are asked to complete an application as well as a 500 (or more) word essay explaining their hopes and dreams outside of continuing their education.
